What makes this HEATER the right choice?
SMART IMMERSION HEATER
Most smart immersion heaters are only found in the direct unvented hot water cylinders. That's because they're categorised as water heaters as their only heat source is through the electric immersion heater. A smart immersion heater learns how a household uses its hot water, building up a usage profile unique to the occupiers specific usage patterns.
The smart thermostat fitted to the Kingspan range of direct cylinders leaves the factory in the "Eco Mode" setting. This means that once it's connected to the immersion heater, it will immediately begin to record the hot water usage in the home for a period of seven days. During this time, it maintains a temperature of 70°C, but after that, it automatically adjusts its settings and temperature to be as energy-efficient as possible, based on the needs of the householders.
If a smart immersion heater is used on its "Eco Mode" setting then it can save money when compared to a regular immersion heater. A regular immersion heater will maintain a constant cylinder temperature of between 50°C to 65°C, depending on the temperature selected by the installer or homeowner. If left on 24/7, the electricity bills can mount up and the life of the immersion heater element itself will be shortened. Therefore, it's recommended that a timer switch is also fitted to control when the heater is on.
In contrast, a smart immersion heater should be permanently left on 24/7 in "Eco Mode" setting, as this will predict your demand and adjust water temperature to suit. That means the water is only being heated when needed and to the temperature required, to ensure you have enough hot water to meet your normal demand, giving the potential to save up to 20%. Because the smart immersion heater continually monitors hot water usage, even after the first seven days of installation, it's always adjusting to give the household the most efficient use of electricity.
The installation process for a smart immersion is exactly the same as a standard immersion with no additional complex wiring to deal with.
