What makes this Tank the right choice?
2900 litre Alpha septic tank for homes of up to 4 bedrooms
Sized for a population of up to 6 people, the Klargester Alpha 2900 litre septic tank is a practical choice for houses and rural properties in Ireland that are not connected to a public sewer. It is suitable for every type of domestic application, and the manhole cover and frame are now included as standard.
Key features
- Performance tested in line with EN 12566 (Part 1)
- Medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) construction: light, watertight, chemically resistant and built to last
- Four lifting points to keep the tank steady when it is lifted into place
- Redesigned shape that makes installation easier
- Less digging required, helping to keep excavation costs down
- Choose from single-stage or twin-stage versions
About the Alpha range
The Alpha family comes in two sizes, 2900 litres and 3800 litres, with this 2900 litre model sitting alongside the 3800 litre version. Both are intended for domestic and small-scale commercial sites where sewage is collected and settled before the liquid is discharged to a drainage field. Unlike more traditional septic tank designs, the Alpha has a shallow-dig profile, which can reduce the amount of excavation needed. Its neck can also be trimmed to lower the invert level, a useful option where ground conditions rule out a conventional deep installation.

How a septic tank works
Wastewater from the property is held in the tank long enough for solids to settle at the bottom and form a sludge layer, which is partly broken down by anaerobic digestion. The clarified liquid then flows out through the outlet pipe to a drainage field. These spherical tanks are produced as standard in net working capacities from 2,900 to 3,800 litres, and the standard invert depth is 1.05m.
Any septic tank and drainage field should be installed in line with the relevant Irish regulations and your local authority's requirements.
Delivery and offloading
Klargester tanks are delivered on a customer offload basis, so you will need to arrange suitable people and/or lifting equipment on site to take the tank off the delivery vehicle.
Should you need help with offloading, we may be able to arrange a tail lift, which lowers the tank to the ground, or a HIAB lorry fitted with a crane to lift it off. Please get in touch with us if you would like either option.
